The twelfth chapter of Genesis discusses God’s call to Abraham. Abraham lived in Iraq. God said to him “:Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you.”

OK. We will shortly explain the greater lesson which is usually hidden when you look at first glance. But Abraham is told by God, whom he cannot see; (Remember he is living in a  land where all gods are visible), to leave your home. Forget about what you are thinking. Remember No Greyhound, Amtrak, American Airlines to a major city that you could google. Leave your country! Where am I going? To a land that I (God) will show you!

He goes on: “I’ll make you a great nation and bless you. I’ll make you famous; you’ll be a blessing. V. 3 I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse……” (Text from the Message Bible)

So Abraham left just as God said, and Lot left with him. (Dont take Lot with you…God didnt call Lot!) Here are some observations:  God is about to begin the two thousand year process of bringing Messiah, the Christ into the world. God is about to fulfill the promise to Eve at the Garden..”YOUR SEED will bruise the serpent’s head.” This process, this beginning, is for our human consumption. In Him, it is already done!

Abraham obeyed! Awesome. He did exactly what God said. I need a personal refresher. How awesome it would be if everyone of us did exactly that! How much easier life would be, if we obeyed God, doing exactly what he says. Another observation: What if Abraham did not obey?

Note: God has foreknowledge. Abraham has free-will. He (Abraham) could do what ever he wanted, no matter what God said! You have free will. You could do anything you want to do. So, how does the fore-knowledge of God come into play? Take a look at  Luke ch 4:25 (Jesus) Isn’t it a fact that there were many widows in Israel at the time of Elijah during that three and a half years of drought when famine devastated the land, BUT THE ONLY WIDOW TO WHOM ELIJAH WAS SENT was in Sarepta in Sidon?

Why? because she would obey the man of God. Because she would do EXACTLY what she was instructed to do. She would not ask a question. She would and did receive the instruction from the man of God, as A WORD FROM GOD! God would direct His instruction to someone who would obey Him. Every Revival, every move of God came about because someone obeyed an instruction! No questions, no arguements, no ifs ands or buts.

Remember Naaman the leper? At first he challlenged the common sense of the instruction received. (How often we forget that GOD IS BEYOND THE SENSE REALM!) When he obeyed exactly, he was cleansed.

God spoke to Abraham; he obeyed. God led him; he prospered. Help us all Lord from this place in the flesh (senses), where we find it hard to move into the area of absolute trust, absolute obedience, and thus, absolute faith!

More to follow…..

Are you aware that God is about to “Raise you up” to another level? Can you tell when He is calling you to greater service? Yes you can.. When that time comes, (1) He will separate you from your friends (what friends, anyway?). (2) He will place you BY YOURSELF that is…alone!! (3) He will walk you through a process that is uncomfortable on your flesh, your desires, etc. You will begin to experience certain changes in your own life that you will find difficult to explain to anyone.

Oh yes, you are on your way to place where you’ve never been. Dont turn back. You prayed the prayer; you asked for this; you told the Lord “I’m ready.” And now, your time has come. Welcome to the journey. This message “Jesus Transfigured,” will introduce to you a series of teachings on the journey you are about to enter. You see, God is looking for a vessel that He could use, for this time. David is dead. Joseph is dead. Smith Wigglesworth, Oral Roberts, etc are dead. You are here. This is your time.

Matthew writes about this event, but we will first note the series of threes. There are three accounts of this story. (Matthew, Mark & Luke.) They were not there, but the three who were there (Peter, James & John) were not allowed to write the story. There were three principles in this scene. (Jesus, Moses & Elijah).

Now, look at the opening statement..After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain by themselves. Why Peter, James and John? Were there not twelve disciples? Does it not seem to you that these three names keep appearing in events with Jesus time after time? Why? I believe that they were always ready. Like the church member who is there when the doors are open. Every time. The early bird…? Well, they were there. He took them. He wants to TAKE you..Do you want Him to take you higher? Are you willing? Are you ready? That’s why Your life is changing. That’s why some unusual things are happening to you. He took them up a high mountain! That’s where we are heading. To a higher place. To a place where we’ve never been.

By themselves. God cannot use you in your present environment. You are overcrowded with company. You are overrun with “Things” (X-boxes, I-Phones, A this I that, you get the picture). Are these things wrong to have? NO! But where you are going, some of these things will become distracting. There are religious extremists who will tell you having any normal thing is a sin. When He was ready to start a Nation (Israel) He called Abraham away from Iraq. When He was ready to begin another phase of the birthing of that Nation, He called Joseph (His brothers sold him to Ishmaelite traders, so they thought) by himself. The follow-up teachings will greatly elaborate on this most incredible Bible Story (of Joseph). When God wanted to call another King to Israel, He led the Prophet Samuel to Jesse’ enclave, and He rejected all of Jesse’s sons until David was reluctantly brought forward because he was already by himself!

There on this mountain, Jesus was transfigured (Changed). His face shone like the sun. (True). His clothes became white as the light. (Not quite..He, that is His entire body shone so brightly right through the clothing he was wearing) Now, Jesus was about to enter a time of prayer again. Again? Yes. He prayed every day (night) to His heavenly Father. He never took anyone with him to pray. But on this occasion He took the three. Why? Look at Matt 16:13 He asked “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Some say John the Baptiste, others say Elijah, and still others say, Jeremiah or one of the prophets…..But what about you? Who do you say that I am?

Peter answered. You are the Christ.(The Anointed One) The Messiah, the Son of the Living God. The Pharisees, Sadducees, etc. have never believed that this Jesus who walks among us is He who was prophesied. Jesus commends Peter’s faith by acknowledging this fact…Human intellect did not tell you this, but my Father in heaven! Now, He shows them That He is indeed the Christ, by inviting them into His prayer chamber. There, He puts on the Glory that He wears in The presence if His Father (Jn 17:5). They see it. They are in His presence, in His prayer chamber in fellowship with the Father, and there too, Moses, representing those who died, and Elijah, representing those who are yet alive. They were talking with Jesus! 1800 Years before, Moses prayed to The Father: “Show me your Glory” Now, his prayer his answered! He stands In the glory! His presence. His Nature! That is who He is! He is LIGHT. In Him, is no darkness at all! ( John 1:5)

You and I would be richly blessed to stand with Him exposed to His Glory…to His nature. To be infused with the Light which is He himself. Would you like to be there? What would you be willing to give up for this? Why would you want to have this experience? To write a book about it? Or so tha He could use you entirely for His purpose! LET US THINK ABOUT THIS AND THEN PRAY. Talk to me about this message:

After receiving Jesus Christ as Lord of your life; after experiencing the blessedness of being a Child of God, what is the most important thing? In view of this fractured world in which most Born again believers walk, we need a refresher. We need to re-visit the whole “Salvation” thing. Grace, love, mercy etc.

Now, as long as I’ve been in Christ, I’ve made a simple (but very profound) discovery. Living for Christ is NOT that  hard. The devil wants you to think it is, but when we put this “Thing” into practice, If we follow some simple Biblical instructions, we can overcome every test and live victoriously. I am going to begin with a simple truth; a simple concept and then I’ll expand on it as long as it takes, because it is MOST important for us to remember this……..

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING that we must do, in a single word?   OBEY.

Obey God. Every one who obeyed was very successful. From Genesis to today, this is the most important thing. It is not complex. Adam and Eve exercised free will by choosing not to obey God’s commands. Therefore, there was catastrophic failure in the human family. God foreknew that they would (Dis)obey. But He had to allow them to exercise free will. God knew that they would fail. The question was asked: “ Then why did God put that tree in the garden?” The answer is simple. There would be not test if there was no choice. They chose. And now, we choose.

So, in the coming weeks, we shall discuss this concept: Obedience, OR what others call Faith! Surprized? What do you think faith is? Faith is, “Doing exactly what God says.” Later, we shall look at The father of Faith, Abraham,  who got that reputation by doing ONE thing…obeying God. Our lives will be blessed; we will overcome every trouble; we will have great victories when we begin to obey God as we ought!

So, begin today!
